Making Justice Happen: IBJ Fellowship for Innovative Criminal Justice Projects

GENEVA/ SINGAPORE, January 27, 2010 – In support of efforts to curb legal abuse across Asia, International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) this week launches its second JusticeMakers Fellowship Competition. 

The Competition, opening January 27, is open to applicants who have concrete, achievable ideas to promote and foster criminal justice and rule of law initiatives. Each winning Fellow will receive USD5,000 to implement his or her project. The winners will also participate in a week-long intensive training course in Singapore.

IBJ Awards Eight JusticeMakers Fellowships for 2008
5,000-dollar seed grants go to innovative projects committed to changing criminal justice systems in developing countries

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND (November 20, 2008) — International Bridges to Justice awarded eight JusticeMakers Fellowships for 2008 today. Recipients were notified by phone that they will each receive 5,000 dollars to implement a project to protect the rights of ordinary persons accused of a crime within their communities. The fellows of this seed fund include members from eight countries and three continents. The projects were selected for their innovation, relevance and potential to make important contributions to their country’s respective legal systems.

Criminal Justice Innovation Competition Launches on UN's Anti-Torture Day
GENEVA, June 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A competition for innovations that end torture, arbitrary detainment and abuse is being announced by International Bridges to Justice (IBJ). Called JusticeMakers, the initiative launches on June 26th, the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.
